The Russian Association for Water and Wastewater (RAWW) is the first professional association in the former Soviet Union (established in 1990) uniting more than 80% of public water supply and sanitation systems in the Russian Federation. It unites water utilities of all the federal districts of the Russian Federation, research and design institutions, private operators, sectoral expert and analytical organizations, non-profit partnerships, environmental funds, international professional associations, suppliers of equipment, technologies and services for the housing and utilities sector. The total length of the networks operated by the RAWW members is: water supply and distribution pipelines – almost 500 thousand kilometers, wastewater pipelines – 160 thousand kilometers. The number of served population is about 100 million people.

 

The Association presents the consolidated position of the professional community of the water industry in the public authorities, is a co-developer of the sectoral legislation, participates in improving the legal framework, implements technical and educational standards for the industry, renders assistance to the water utility enterprises with legal precedencies, property relations, with tariff setting issues and investment attraction, and also organizes scientific and practical forums, seminars and conferences, actively participates in international and national focused events.

 

The Russian Association for Water and Wastewater is a member of the International Water Association (IWA) that is uniting 157 water associations all over the world.
